102 engine swap

I have a cub 102 with the 10 hp kohler (k241). I'm want to swap it out for a 14hp kohler. would this be as simple as a bolt together swap or would this require major fabrication?

Short answer... Yes!

Long answer it would depend on the 321 you are upgrading to. Your 102 has a mechanical PTO clutch. Many K321 engines have an electric clutch. Not a real tricky thing to resolve, just something to take into account.

No, it's not a straight swap. The frame on the 102 is too narrow to accept the larger blower housing from the K321. And the K321 that you have, what is it from, another Cub like a 149? because if it's out a John Deere the shaft will be too long, if it's out of a wheel horse then the base of the block is the wrong design. so many variables.

In which event you would essentially be turning your Cub into a model 147.

I agree with Green407 on the innumerable variations of the K series engines. True a Wheel Horse and some others like Alice or Simplicity are belt driven and the engine is transversely mounted. Also true the shaft length and whether it is threaded or not is a factor. But, I assume if you are attempting such a project that these are things you would have already considered.

Question mark on the frame being to narrow.

The 147 was the first Cub with a 14HP Kohler. As you can see in the photo the frame was widen for the larger blower housing.

What's that other bit of "Cobble Craft" business hanging off the right side?
