needing parts

1 Attachment(s)
Just received a 1994 Cub Cadet AGS 2160 in need of a little TLC.

Haven't decided if I want to flip or keep, but either way, I definitely need to replace a few parts.

The most pressing is the deck deflector chute. As it stands, it's an amputation waiting to happen. Can anyone guide me toward a chute that would fit this machine? eBay and Amazon have been unhelpful on this score.

I would also like to replace the light bar, which is missing. Thoughts? Will I pay through the nose for this part?

Thank you for your help.

Flip it, the AGS transmissions are very problematic. They are a 6 speed with a forward and reverse wet clutch design. Many people were told that they were a hydro system so they slipped them to the point that they burned them up. Proper operation called for the operator to pick a speed then hold the pedal in full forward or reverse. Quick test is put it in 6th and see if it slips trying to climb a hill, if it does the clutch is toast. :beerchug:

transmission

I received all the paperwork with this tractor, and apparently one of the former owners did exactly what you've described, because I have the receipts for the repaired transmission. It seems to work fine now, though.

I'm not sure what size deck that is but I pulled this up from the "Parts & Service Look-Up" box at the top of the page and it looks like they are still available new. I would try the sponsors at the top of the page first before buying new. Houtz or P&K would be my go-to guys on these parts.

Thanks for going through the trouble of posting those, Oak. When I finally located the part number, it was easy to find an aftermarket chute that fit. It's on the tractor now.

As for the headlight assembly, that's a little trickier. Rob Houtz has a used one for one hundred plus shipping. I need to make a decision as to how nice I want this project to turn out.

Also, I don't have much insight into the value of this machine. If I manage to make it nice (repair front end, install light bar, repaint deck and other blemishes), any idea of what it might be worth?

The Problem with Most of Rob's(Rf Houtz Used To be My Local Dealer/ still my local Cub Bone Yard) assemblies he usually screws the front Lens Back On(right In the Middle of the lens). You can get the whole assembly compete for https://www.amazon.com/CUB-CADET-759.../dp/B00CSC6142 $157 You save $14.00 over Buying direct from MTD/Cub Use RF Houtz website as and Idea for Pricing Your 2160. By Blue Book if It was still printed today the 2160 would be Valued at VDC Value determined by condition IE a dealer would not give You Much or Nothing for it On trade-in for It is what VDC actually translated:ThumbsUp:
