1450 Loader Hydraulics Plan
3 Attachment(s)
Hello all,
I'm in the planning stages for adding a light loader to my 1450. The plans I want to use are for the single-arm CadLoader model 507 (photo attached). I have my reasons for going with this model over the traditional double-arm design:
Right now I have the OEM dual-spool valve on my 1450 that I use for the snow plow lift and power angle. As I mentioned, I would very much like to preserve that functionality. My plan is to install a 3-way valve on the pressure supply line coming from the pump so that I can select a secondary circuit with a second dual-spool valve to control the loader cylinders. I would run the low-pressure/return lines from both control valves into a "T" fitting and then back to the return on the pump. I made the attached drawing of my plan and I was hoping some of you could take a look and offer any criticism or suggestions before I start buying parts and tearing things apart. Many thanks in advance! |

Cad Loader has some great designs and Your 1 arm Loader Looks Great  |
looks great. I have a danco on a 106 steering is not easy when loaded. I seriously doubt mine can lift 400 pounds, the rear wheels get light with a bucket load and I have JD 75 pound weights on each rear, rear tires are liquid filled and my big FA in the saddle. this looks like a very nice alternative.

Steering is noticeably worse, but it’s not unmanageable at all. You just have to get used to timing your steering while the machine is moving. I think the bucket is pretty seriously overbuilt (all 3/16 plate) and that’s making the front heavier than it needs to be.
I have 115lbs of weight plates in a box behind the rear axle and that seems to be enough for moving mulch around my driveway and some light dirt moving, but I’d like to add another 50-75lbs. Definitely wouldn’t want to drive down a hill with anything heavy at this point. Planning to fill the rear tires when I get around to it. I’d love to add power steering but sourcing the parts and tearing the thing apart again seems like a lot of work and mental energy when I have something that works. If I find a stupid deal on a super garden tractor w/power steering I I’ll consider switching it over I guess. As I’ve gone through the process of the project, I’ve decided that I’m going to figure out a way to make a quick-attach system of some kind, and just build a mount for my snow blade. I’ll need to add a third-function for the power angle, and at that point I’ll build a lighter bucket with a removable grapple. |
