1965-100 will not move

Greetings, it's been years since I was on last asking a question so I guess that means well for an old Cub Cadet.

I am using my son-in-law's grandfathers 1965-100 and it's been great. But today at my first mowing of the year it refuses to move when letting the clutch out. It worked fine for 10 minutes.

When I let the clutch out it seems like it want's to move just a little when the clutch is halfway out but then just stops and I had to push it up driveway with engine running and in gear.

When in gear and engine off I can push it easily in any gear.

I welcome any wise counsel and advice on what to look for and the difficulties to get this fine ol mower going again.
Thanks
Gary

The first thing to check is the spiral pins in the drive line, make sure they're not sheared. Then Check the clutch main spring and make sure it's not cracked.

At the tail end of your driveshaft is a steel coupler (pictured).
It slides halfway on your driveshaft and halfway on the on the input shaft of your transmission.
Then there are two coiled steel pins (called spirol pins and also pictured) that are driven through holes in the coupler, driveshaft, and input shaft.
The spirol pins keep the coupler in place and transfer the driveshaft rotation to the input shaft.
It is very common for the spirol pins to shear off and then the driveshaft or input shaft just spin around inside the coupler.

That's where I'd look first.

spirol pin in the drive shaft is the first place I would look. Do you have a creeper gear in this?
The manual is in the resources- technical library-tractors section for 70/100 page 31 has a cutaway of your driveline

Thanks to all for you prompt answers. Supposed to have bad weather all week but hope to be able to check into this the coming weekend.
Again, thanks to all.

PS Luckily there was a person mowing across the street and he agreed to mow for me. Good thing, grass was really high.

It stopped raining and I was able to check the diagram and then my mower. In using a mirror/light I was able to see that the pin through the engine side of the coupler is intact but the pin on the transmission side appears to be missing/broken.

It would appear that I can drive the pins out and then back in from underneath after taking the mower deck off. Is that correct?

While the deck is off I should probably replace the Center pully and bearing since the grease zerk is broken off.

What would be the correct part numbers for the pins and the Center Pully/bearing for this 1965-100 Cub Cadet and what would be the best place to purchase.

Thanks for all of the good advice and wise counsel.
Gary
