Looking to learn. Bought a 147 and 126 today.

Well, I was pretty happy with one Cub. For a while. Then I thought it'd be kinda nice to get one gear drive to go with my hydro 1650. So, of course when I find a 126 for a good price, the seller really wants to move a 147 with it, and gives me a number that I have a hard time resisting. So, here I am, with a running 147 in pretty good shape and a 126 that's got some melted wires but he tells me has an engine with new piston and rings. Anyway, I'd love to know what you all think I should know, as a guy coming from one Quietline hydro to two narrow frames, a 14 hp hydro and a 12 hp gear drive. On the 1650, I've replaced a coil, adjusted the points, replaced the rubber motor mounts, and cleaned and rebuilt the carb. I'm not expert, but that's the stuff I have fiddled with so far. So what should I know about these two new-to-me tractors?

What do I need to know about these two narrow frames? What are your opinions on these tractors?

Somebody will miss this even tho I am saying it now: The one that is labelled 126 on the dash is the 147. I know. I know. Crazy. The seller was using the 126 as a parts machine and put the nicer pieces on the 147.

Well the 147 Is Missing the electric actuator that came standard. I used one of these https://johnnyproducts.com/products/...-lift-actuator to replace My duff-Norton actuator. On My 106. Going to replace it again Not because the actuator is Bad But because I want a faster actuator which this actuator https://johnnyproducts.com/products/...1-till-present will give me with a Kit John Produces and I'll have the speed of Hydraulic lift:ThumbsUp:

Your 126 is the 3rd rarest Cub built with a production run of 5247.
And the 147 is the last of the narrow frame models and the 1st 14 HP IH Cub.
Both are part of series #5 produced from August 1969 thru August 1971 which included the model 73 (carried over from previous years), the 106, 107, 126, 127 and the 147 and the first run of Cubs with the integrated one-piece fender pan with foot rests.

I like also about both these models is they are top hp for their line. I'm not sure how much of a difference that really makes, but I'd always rather have a few extra horsepower than less.
