CC129 Rear HYDRO seal leak. Any insight?
I changed the HYDRO fluid and filter on a CC129. PO used the paper gasket and black RTV. Took a while to get it cleaned up but I installed new gasket without RTV and it is leaking. I have tried cinching it down more and still a leak. I cannot go any tighter and I hate to use RTV if I don't have to. Anyone have any insight? Thanks

Personally, as long as the rear plate is nice and flat on the mating surface, I don't use a gasket, RTV only.
Put a nice even bead around the rear housing surface and 360 degrees around the bolt holes, position the plate and finger tighten bolts. Wait an hour or so and tighten down bolts. Works for me, your results may vary! I like this stuff.... |
Probably what I will do. No rain for next couple days so I may get it done. I just need to be careful not to use too much. Thanks

When I did my 149, and my brothers 1250, I cut my own gaskets out of 1/8" cork, and applied Permatex 515 to both sides of the gasket.
Been a couple of years and hasn't started leaking. |
I do not use a gasket as well. I work in an engine plant and we do not use gaskets, just Three-Bond material. Different material for water and oil.
