1711 predator 670 swap
I am starting this thread to follow along with my predator 670 swap into my 1711 (which I believe is the same as the more popular 782) This is my first time posting, so any advice is greatly appreciated.
this all started with a late night on facebook marketplace as all great things do. I bought a non running 1711 hydro for $400 in maple syrup money, the guy told me it all ran great but he let it sit for a year and now the starter was sticky and he just couldn't be bothered to fix it. Perfect, nothing that can’t be fixed with some weasel piss. 10 minutes later I had it running and driving around the driveway, success!!!! Unfortunately success was short lived as there was a loud bang while I drove onto the trailer. This loud bang was indeed the sound of what I call rapid internal disassembly. The right side connecting rod had decided to fragmentize itself, wreaking havoc across the inside of my motor, punching holes in the bock, scoring the crankshaft, and breaking a piece off of the cylinder sleeve. Needless to say the motor is not getting rebuilt but instead replaced with a more modern predator 670 from harbor freight. |
I almost headed down that road this week, but was able to postpone.
I'll be following this thread. You found the other thread here from a member who did the same thing, and documented it well? Good luck with the swap! Rex |
