Kohler Energy Division Sell Majority Stake To Platinum Energy

FYI. I learned this yesterday from my local Cub dealer and checked on-line to verify from multiple sources. I post this because of the implications of the discontinuation of legacy parts for discontinued engines - of which I own 3.

Private Equity Global Investment Firm Platinum Energy bought the majority stake of Kohler Energy Unit of Kohler Company. Rebranding will begin under the Rehlko name and experts close to the transaction expect that older engines and parts availability will be phased out in 3-5 years to streamline the business and cut costs to maximize profit margins.

Platinum Energy’s interest was in the unit’s commercial and industrial generator business. The small engine unit was included as part of the transaction.

This transaction was completed in 2024.

Sounds like IH back when they went out of business.
If there is a need for parts, the aftermarket will provide it.
Only problem is 50% of new parts are bad out of the box, EVEN OEM parts.
and it does not matter if one is working on wheeled things, toilets or appliances.
Just surf the net if you haven't already.
Quality has long since been replaced with low cost suppliers.
such is life.:bash2:

Ol'George is absolutely correct!

I saw this in another group, and couldn't believe it. Seems like there would have to be some money in all those OPE engines they ship, but I guess not?

The new Name is Pronounced REL-CO

REHLKO is Just the Kohler Name Jumbled Up. Different Name Same engines and this is Not New Information this started in 2023 after the son of the founder Died in 2022. I guess the Grandson did want to Be more than a CEO In Title Only and Maybe his Kids Didn't want to Take over Kohler either

BTW this Only applies to the engines and Power Generation systems. Not the Plumbing Systems, The Current CEO of REHLKO was a VP Of Kohler since 2013

I don't Like the Name change, either. That is the downside of Family Owned companies when the next generation doesn't want to take over the company. What do you do. I wish it was KPS Buying it, But that would have gotten Uncle Sam Involved Because they Own Briggs and Stratton. KPS is an equity firm that is known to improve the companies they buy.

So Platinum Energy might be a Good thing if there is anything like KPS.

Has anyone had a problem getting Kohler parts yet?
