Cub Cadet Model 73 Wiring Questiov
 

Hello all. Trying to get my fresh restored model 73 up and going.. Completing all wiring terminations and came across a note I made, backed up by a picture during disassably of a wire that went from the battery (positive) to an isolated terminal on the throttle lever. I'm finding it hard to gather any information on this termination, like why and what it is for. Can any of you possibly shed some light as to what this wire is used for and why I have it

Where I started, where I'm at, and the throttle lever ithbwire before I removed it to prep for paint.

When you move the throttle to the lowest position, does it make contact with that wire connector? Maybe it's a kill switch? I've never heard of that on a riding mower/tractor but that's what it looks like to me in the picture?

No. No contact. It is completley isolated. I thought it might have something to do with the 73's lack of ammeter but it's not making exact sense to me either. Ofcourse I took ownership of the tractor without an engine in it, so I have no proof of why it does or doesnt need to be there.

Since you are rebuilding it anyways just follow the factory wiring diagrams and it should be fine. Who knows what the previous owner had Jerryrigged...

Click the above link and scroll down to the proper schematic for your tractor model number. Look at the very upper right of schematic where it says "junction box for tractors without charge indicator". This could be it!

This looks like it fits the bill. Thank you, Billy-O! Hadn't seen the junction block callout on a diagram before this one. Much appreciated for the direction. Will try this tomorrow.

Could be right, but without any other cables connected, it's not much of a "junction" ... but it could be that there's 3 cables hooked to that point we just can't see.

Hard to see, but I guess that junction point is not grounded !
