Model 70 mower deck rebuild
I bought this tractor many years ago. It is a 1963 vintage tractor. It has been rebuilt and painted with all the original colors. Due to issues with life and being lazy, I'm now starting on the deck.
According to research, they used a cartridge type spindle, part number IH-473436-R93. Any information would be helpful in trying to identify if these are bad, can be taken apart or fixed to operate. Since I'm sure these don't exist on the open market anymore, I need some wisdom as to where to go from here ? Greg |
Cub Cadet Specialties,on the top of the page, check his website, its really going to be the way to go.And don't be afraid to call and ask Charlie your questions

Has anybody on this forum taken one of these apart and repaired it ?

Yes, very rebuildable as long as the keyway slot is not boogered up. Bearing, races and seals are available online. |
Thankyou Ironman for that information. This appears similar to the tapper roller bearing spindles on my 50C deck which I just rebuilt.
Question, is the shaft held in there by a snap ring ? |

That big nut on the pulley is not a nut, just to hold the pulley in place if needed. The ring that you see in the picture on the right is a spacer between the upper and lower roller bearing. It keeps them from getting squeezed into the races and binding up. If you replace the grease seals put them in with one seal facing up and one seal facing down. That's to provide an escape for the grease pumped in. Otherwise hydraulic pressure will pop them out. |
