Front Wheel Bearings- 149

1 Attachment(s)
After searching the site I could not find what I was looking for. My front outer wheel bearings decided to come apart. I removed the outer bearing in pieces. Anyone know the part number for the outer bearing . Also I believe on the pure the bearing sleeve is still in there but do not want break something if that is not the case. Thanks in advance for your comments.

IH 384881 R93 is the part #. When shopping for them just remember the old saying "YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR". The cheaper ones are usually a stamped version and are not sealed. Better option is the machined ones that are around 50 percent more but will last a long time even when used in wet snowy conditions.

If you go to the Cub Cadets parts look up at the top of the page.
You can find your tractor and look at parts diagrams and find part
numbers. This will help you know what it looks like as well as give
you numbers to search for parts.

Thanks for the reply’s Grandpa and West. Went to the Cub dealer and he had one (only one) in stock and picked it up. Now I know where to find the parts diagram my next tackle will be the blade spindles.

I used to go through those things like crazy - always on the one side. Then, it got to the point where the outer new bearing was so loose inside the wheel but then I put a large, heavy washer against the end of the wheel. I think what happens is the bearing just sort of rotates freely in there, but it can't go anywhere so, who cares? Haven't replaced one on that side in years. The other side is no problem since that wheel is in much better shape. Before adding the washer, used to be that I'd be driving along and start to see the wheel drifting in all directions. Really fun when I was mowing down in the woods and hoping to get back to the house before it completely came apart.

As you say, the bearing would come apart in pieces and have to hammer the rest out with a big screwdriver. I don't miss all that.
