Going to look at a 1650 CC

I was looking at Craig's list. A 1650 was listed. Running with only a plow,no deck. Its saying lights work, trans strong. He says engine mounts might need replacing. Also how to check for driveshaft coupler problems, cracks?I've never done this.Looks average from pics some pitted paint. Seat looks good. Called guy seems to want to sell he will negotiate he said.Im thinking
how to test electric clutch with no belt in place?
Also ,this is vague I know, what would be a
good price for me to pay?Asking $800.00 Thanks guys. Bob.

Sounds like fun, picking up a cub! You can test the electric PTO TO SEE IF IT WORKS by turning it on and seeing if it spins visually, but once it has tension of a belt on it, you might hear that it is worn, so I would plan on replacing it as a worst-case scenario, then if it does work you are surprised and not out additional money. You will need to either get under the tractor to inspect the coupler or remove the tunnel cover. If it has a plow on it, then it would have to have a WF 3 point lift on it, unless he has fabricated something unique up to it. The 3 point lift in my area sells for around $200. The plow (assuming it is halfway decent) sells for about $75-$150. The headlights with switch about $75-$125. The seat, if good, should be worth around $40+, depending on quality and features (ie. armrests), the tires......well, depends on weather cracking, size, type (turf vs. ag), so that is an iffy......Without pictures, it is a real challenge to put a price on it. I would probably be in the $300-$500 comfort range on it.....maybe $600.

Let us know if the deal works out!

I have seen this ad so here is my 2 cents....
If you are looking for a project as a hobby, this tractor is a good starting point,
It has a lot of new stuff and appears (in pictures) to be in very nice condition.
But here's the catch....
ISO motor mounts gonna set you back $$$ plus lotta work.
Wanna mow with it?? Decent deck will be another couple hundred.
Now your into way past asking price.
But if your 800 is burning a hole in your pocket, PM me.
I got a 1650 identical condition, everything is perfect and ready to roll, with mower deck (no plow and could prolly use a new bat).

I just bought new mounts at Labuda Farm service. $125+. I have a 1650 that needs mounts. Someone previously stripped out spark plug and put in a adapter that is a pain.John has been great to deal with besides we both race and show Pontiacs. Thanks guys.

$800 seems a little high for me based on your description, but I haven't seen pictures.

He's not buying the one he originally posted about.
He's buying mine, $650, no mower deck, no defects.
