Help Needed - Cub Cadet LTX 1045
Hi! I need some advice about the following mower:
Cub Cadet LTX 1045 46” Mower Deck Kohler Engine Model Number 13AX93AT056 Date of Manufacture 03/2014 Used for three mowing seasons My husband purchased this mower in 2014. He passed away in 2017. The mower has sat in a shed since then. However, the oil and gas were not drained at the time it was stored (because when he stored it he didn't know he wouldn't be around to use it the following week). I want to sell the mower. If I bring it to a local authorized Cub Cadet service location would they be able to get it in working order? Or, is it ruined because the gas and oil weren’t drained? Please advise. As you can see, I know nothing about this. Thanks. |
The fuel will definitely be bad. The battery will probably be needing replacing. The oil will be fine but should be changed. The mice might have made a nest and maybe chewed the wires. There could be other maladies due to dormancy. You might run into more expense than what you'd get back. Best to get estimates.
I would think that the best case for you is to say the tractor sat for 6-7 years and sell it as "ran last time" to a mechanically inclined soul who will get it running again. We could hear from the gloating buyer maybe needing some advice in repair.:biggrin2: |
I second what Billy-O says.
In my opinion you will be much better off listing it for sale on Craigslist or other. There is also a good chance the fuel lines will need replaced, also a fuel pump, if that lawn tractor has one. The carburetor will also need the bowl dropped, sediment cleaned out, float seat, float inspected etc. The cooling fins will probably also need a cleaning. If it's been stored in a non-climate controlled shed, with the deck mounted, you will also need to inspect that for weak spots and rust through, from moisture. So yeah, best bet is probably to sell it for a couple $$ and let someone else deal with whatever is wrong with it. |
FOR SALE - AS IS = best for you

Sorry about the loss of your husband. I am with the other guys. It would be pretty expensive to pay someone to fix it and get it sorted and ready to mow. Most shops are 75-100 an hour in my part of the country. I would just sell it as is.

Do you not have a mechanically friendly neighbour or relly who could assist you
Pull Spark plugs , squirt in a bit of oil , drain fuel and oil and replenish , clean carby bowl and you may be lucky and it will run Oz |
Thank you for all of the replies. I appreciate y'all taking the time to help.

Could y'all please give me a ballpark idea of how much to ask for the mower? I'm clueless and really don't want to be taken advantage of locally when selling because of my ignorance. I'm in central Arkansas. Thanks again!
