rear axle issues
I picked up a 169 with a bad axle seal. My question is where would I get these parts from. I was going to try to go to the local NAPA parts store and see what they had. This is my first time doing an axle seal and i am surprised how simple it really is. just one locking ring hold the axle in place. Where would be a good place to get seals and gaskets. thanks

I would try the local cub dealer first. Your going to need an oil filter and five quarts of Hy-tran oil plus a cover gasket as well.
Where are you located in PA? Mabye I can help you with a source. |
First, you can try your local Cub Cadet or Case-IH Dealers.
If that is not feasible, then any of the Sponsors in the boxes at the top of the page would be more than happy to take care of you. |
A 169 holds 7 quarts of Hytran. Get a 2-gallon container from a Case-IH or Case heavy equipment dealer; it's cheaper than buying quarts from CC. Replace both axle seals while you are in there. I would also get the top cover gasket so you can refill the trans through the top. It's MUCH faster.

Sorry about that, Matt is correct 14 pints. If you have someone to hold the funnel you can put it in the plug in a couple of minutes. Less time than it takes to scrape off an old gasket.

Try Napa 9878.They worked extremely well for me and were about 5-6 bucks a piece....

I use a funnel with a tube connected to it to fill rear end.
