Poor mans power steering for CC1541
I noticed intructions on line on how to install thrust bearings in the steering spindles on a Husqvarna tractor to make the steering easier to handle.....I tried the easy to install bearings and washers that cost around $6 for the pair it steered easier......I have yet to get the CC into the garage and see if its possible on that machine and am hoping that it is...The bearings and washers fit on a 3/4" spindle shaft....

I did that on a 1210 back in 2010. 1" ID bearings from McMaster Carr

A pair of tri-rib tires on front will make you think you have P/S!

I did the real PS switch on my 1541 5 years ago. Well worth the expense and effort if you use a snow thrower. It was very hard to turn the wheel when the blower was lifted off the ground and the tractor was not moving. PS is not much of an advantage while cutting the grass.
I was lucky and got most of the parts used when prices were not crazy like they are now. |
1541 Poor Mans Power Steering
Thanks for sharing your experiences with steering options....When I get a chance I will get the beast in the garage to see what is involved and order the correct bearings....The tri rib tires is a good option but the key words are "poor mans".

I like this upgrade I think its a mut have to help take the load off of the steering components, Anybody know off the top of their head what the steering knuckle diameter for a 1863 is or do you have the part numbers?
