flywheel ring gear
 

i recently tried to repair a flywheel ring gear - it had a crack and would spin freely on the flywheel - i ground a taper on the ring gear - welded it and reformed it to original - i put flywheel in freezer and put the ring gear in my grill . after about 30 minutes i dropped the ring gear on the flywheel - it turned out perfect - and was proud - then after about an hour i noticed it had cracked again - not on repair area but elsewhere. any suggestions on what i should do?

i am working on a sv600 - kohler courage 20 twin cam ohv

Your best bet is to buy a replacement flywheel.
