XT1 ST54 - What does the ST stand for?

I just picked up a 2017 XT1 ST54 (54" Fab deck, larger wheels/tires, 24hp Kohler, front bumper). I am a bit familiar with Cub's Lawn Tractors. Previously owned a LTX1045 and currently own an XT1 LT46. My biggest question so far is what does ST stand for???

LT = Lawn Tractor
GT = Garden Tractor
ST = ???

Super Tractor?
Simple Tractor?
Sh*tty Tractor

Sh*t Tractor...

If the 24HP is the Courage family, then the ST is as named in the above post. If the engine is a Command, then not as bad.

It's none of the above. The ST has the larger tires and bumper (not to mention fabricated deck). The engine is a 7000 Series Kohler, which is just fine. :beerchug:

Farmall is correct. My ST54 has a Kohler 24hp 7000 series. Not the Courage.

It does have a 54" fabricated deck. Wow, what a beast.

My 2009 LTX1045 had the 20hp Courage. The only issue I had with it was the leaking valve cover. Easy fix. Sold it with 225 hours on it.

I bought the ST54 to flip. I did not even start it when I looked at it (yea, I know...). The underside was in pieces. Previous owner tried to replace a pulley and had issues. I was able to get it all back together correctly.... I think. Started right up and I had enough room to move it a foot forward and a foot backwards. Still working on it. A long list of small things need to be done. I hope to have it complete by this weekend.

They're fetching top dollar (new) now, pre-COVID I think they were about $1000 less. I actually thought they were $2500 when I started selling them.

Looks like CC has rebranded them to a GT54 FAB (they must have read the confusion in this thread).

I see they still sell the ST54 along with the GT54 FAB. It looks like the main difference is the GT54 FAB has the K58 transmission with a 1" rear axle.

Yes, I can't believe how much prices jumped on all their tractors as a result of COVID. I have been tracking prices in my area on FB and CL and I am hoping to get in the $2K area for this one. The new price is $3,399. Thoughts???

The price jump wasn't due to COVID It was due to the cost of energy which in turn made the cost to produce steel and plastics, you name it, it went Up. When the western world declares war on what produces their energy (fossil fuel), everything is going to cost more. When a manufacturer's cost goes up to produce their product, they are going to pass that cost onto the consumer. I think I paid $3,799 for a 2017 XT2 GX54 D when we bought it for a friend of ours back in 2017!!!

COVID was a small factor in the prices actually going up. In the short term while the virus was in full swing. But had the western world not declared war on fossil fuels, the prices would have been much lower than they are now. That Initial $200 dollar Jump In Cub Cadet riding Equipment You saw in Fall 2020 could have been a short term cost raise do to the supply chain issues. You may not have seen a cost jump yearly since 2020 had there been no war of Fossil fuel starting in 2021

Garden tractor should be synonymous with shaft driven, IMO. I must have missed the ST54 on their site - my dealership has been out since Spring so I figured it was gone :(
