New to me Cub 154 Lo Boy
4 Attachment(s)
I just got this yesterday in a trade. I already have a 105 that I was going to restore but this one will now be my main focus as I am going to add a front end loader to it while restoring it. It is missing a lot of the body pieces but it seems to have all of the frame and drive parts, so that is good. The biggest problem is that it has been sitting with no hood and a previous owner had taken out the spark plugs for some unknown reason. I see several weeks of ATF and WD-40 sitting in the cylinders before I try to turn it over. Pretty sure the motor is rust locked. Any comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated since this is my first tractor of this kind. Regards, Bubba J

Cool, good luck. Those are light duty tractors for putting a loader on, be careful there.

Well I was extremely saddened to figure out that the motor was not in fact rust locked per se as much as it was completely rusted inside. I tried to get the head off but wound up breaking 3 bolts in the middle of the head. 2 were at the mating surfaces of the block and head, the third was actually just below the top of the head. It looks like there will be lots of drilling in order to get the head off. I think I will have to completely rebuild the motor because of the amount of rust involved. I really hope that this is not indicative of what this tractor rebuild is going to be like the entire time. I am going to try and keep going for now until I can get the motor rebuilt later on.
