782D Overheat and cooling issues?
 

Hello. New to me 782D. Recently fan stopped turning. I can press belt (with stick) and it will engage pullies and begin turning fan. Makes bad bearing noise. Engine temp reached upper limit on gage. Also need to clean screen and radiator.
What is best option for bearings / water pump? Should I replace water pump while there also? Could I just replace bearing?

The bearings at the fan can be replaced. There is a parts breakdown on the Cub Cadet parts and service link above.

Is the noise coming from the front of the engine? The water pump is in the rear. If you replace the water pump, get a belt too.

What part of Tennessee are you in?

Make sure the top radiator hose has the insulation on it. It will overheat if that is missing too. The cooling system on thr D600’# in the 782D and 1572 is at the edge of being good enough to keep the engine cool. Any little thing wrong can make them run hotter. They made the radiator thicker in the next series diesels. That started with the 1772.

Easttncub, the fan bearings are replaceable. Here's a pic of one I did.

There were 2 styles of fan supports. One was made from steel and the other was aluminum. Mine is cast aluminum and it took (2) R12RS bearings like this link but make sure they are double sealed.

You need to check your idler pulley also because they go bad too. I think this is the correct part#. IH-61176-C92

Air = 46270
Fuel = 33389
Pre Fuel = 33972

IF you need the fan idler pulley, an easy to locate replacement is IH-61176-C92

Replaces 756-3032, which is discontinued.

Thank you Everyone. Great update on part numbers and steps. Mine is missing the hose insulation.

I believe replacing the bearings and belt will be the answer. I will know more when start the repair.

I am located in Jonesborough, TN. Not too many diesels here that I can tell. This unit was purchased new in Gate City, VA by a local Doctor. I purchased from second owner. Faded paint and some maintenance items to take care of but I have been mowing this season.
