Snowplow blade edge cover

I cant seem to find it on this forum again, or was it on another? There was a tip to cut a slot along a length of iron pipe to make a blade cover for plowing on gravel drives so the blade doesn't dig in.
Anyone remember this post or done something similar on their snow plow? what gauge pipe? does it really work well?
I don't have metalworking equipment so i'll need to draw out a good description and get a welder or someone else fabricate it for me
I got to use the plow on the 1450 the first time yesterday and the driveway at my new house is very rough and in desperate need of regrading and redoing with crushed stone in the spring...

Make sure it is in snow mode (unpinned so that it can trip). I have the shoes on mine like a "real" snow plow which help with that a lot.

Thanks I hadn't thought of pvc pipe, that makes it cheaper and better in case it bumps into the edge of my concete walkway

Yep i have it unpinned so it can flex on the springs if it snags something, what do you mean by the shoes in the real position? if i slide a piece of pvc pipe over it should the shoes not be below the line or should they?

Just like a real snow plow.
