Operation advice?
 

Hey there,
I finally got this Covid project 124 up & running.
My problem is grinding the gears and clutch timing.
High & low ranges work, sometimes smooth as silk.
Others, not so much. I’m wondering if my shift change technique needs improvement, or maybe clutch adjustment? Should I be double clutching, or other.
Any advice will be welcomed.

Are you trying to shift gears while moving?
The gears are not synchronized,,,,,,,,,,I.E. you can't shift them on the go, you must stop the tractor to change gears. Sometimes even then you must roll the tractor forward or backwards just a bit to get it to slip in gear.
Thats just how it is with old tractors.

I’ll try to be more purposeful and slow things down?

Yep keep shifting while moving and soon you'll be asking about how to rebuild the transmission.
