Gas tank bracket rubber adhesive problem…
I removed the sediment bowl off of the gas tank from my Cub Cadet 70 because I’m going to order a new sediment bowl assembly, but I had to take off one off the brackets to turn the bowl assembly off. What was holding that bracket on was a slightly sticky rubber that is wrecked from age and my removing of the bracket as pictured below. What adhesive would be recommended to put the bracket back on or can I get new rubbers somewhere?

You can use strips from like a bicycle inner tube (or something similar), or gasket material, as the insulator between the straps and the bracket.

I have used thin foam tape....

Would this work?

Lamp wicks work great. That is what they used. Your tank bracket is broken.

Bracket Ebay
$75 is a bit steep for me right now, so here’s what I found on EBay.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/304692670995 That says it’s for an Original but those also had the K161 so would it fit my 70 too since it has the same engine or not? This one specifically says that it’s compatible with my 70, but all the yellow paint is gone. https://www.ebay.com/itm/384912569635 |
If you have a welder, and know how to use it, then that would be my option.

Welder, yep!
I just realized that my neighbor has a tack welder, and he said he’d let me use it. So, I am going to weld it.

The material's used for the pad on that mount, needs to be compatible with gasoline, and not turn to mush after a few months of use.
Lots of heat and vibration in that location. |
