Sediment bowl cleaning
Hello everyone, How do I go about removing the sediment bowl from the gas tank/carb assembly from my IH Cub Cadet 70 Kohler K161 for cleaning? The picture is below.

Once you get the clip off, which you have. It will pull straight off, kinda.
That thing must be really varnished on there. Maybe try and spray something on it to break that seal? Tap on it very lightly. I guess what I am saying is there is nothing else that holds it on there that I know of. Ken |
Right, there’s nothing else holding it on. Be careful if you decide to tap on it to loosen the bowl, both because the bowl is fragile and because I can imagine it would be easy to damage the soldered connection between the tank and the threaded bung that the sediment bowl nipple threads into.
Might be best to remove the whole sediment bowl assembly and work on it on the bench. |

need a deep clean and new gasket, maybe a new screen as well. There should be one in there. Fortunately all those parts including the shutoff are all available. Good luck. Ken |
Success-ish
I managed to get it off by tapping it with the resin handle of a screwdriver; it was really on there though. The gasket is definitely shot and there isn’t even a screen and the whole setup was quite butchered by the previous owner and I’ll need a new/different assembly off of EBay eventually. Just to see if it’ll run come Spring though I’m gonna use the current setup and just install a filter in-between this and the carb.

I would just buy a new or reconditioned bowl assembly on fleabay. However, parts are available at Rural King, TSC, or L&G dealer.
