Cost For Total Belt Replacement?
2 Attachment(s)
Not many Cubs come up for sale within an eight hour drive of me. But a 149 with snowblower, tiller and deck all complete and in running condition just came up about four hours away. But the only belt it has is the mower belt and it's not good, the others are missing completely.
I've seen quite a few posts from folks trying to source belts, both dealer and industrial suppliers. Since I don't have the originals (assuming they'd even be original) it may be a bit of a task to get the proper ones. The main question is; what would be the approximate cost to re belt the blower, tiller and mower? And just to add urgency to the situation, there's a tempting JD 112  fifteen minutes away. |
You can look up the belts you need on cub cadet .com, and go from there to find what you need to get the correct lengths in aftermarket.

Caveat on aftermarket belts. They may be cheaper, but they don't last as well as the OEM Cub Cadet belts. Another example of getting what you pay for.

Make sure you are sitting down when you price the LONG tiller belt.

$225 from Cadet Canada for the long tiller belt. But free shipping.
I could end up with $400 in just belts. $250 in fuel to pick it up. Asking price is $1,000, which is pretty reasonable for here. Especially since it looks complete and original. :bigthink: I have a 149. I have a self powered #2 tiller, I don't need a mower. I don't need a snow blower. :bigthink: But I would like to have the tractor. :HeadScratch::Huh: |
the tiller belt msrp is like 153 dollars. I found one for less.

If I was to buy the tractor, I think it may be wise to spring for the OEM belt for the tiller. The rest are more easily and cheaply sourced from local industrial suppliers of quality belts. But if I wait till the weekend, my dilemma will be solved because it will sell by then. |

Well, I missed out on the Cub, but this little Red Rascal came home with me. Appears to be all original and runs good with no smoke. No sure about the tranny as the drive belt is worn to a frazzle. Has a 42" deck that seems pretty solid.

There are high quality belts available from other sources than from Cub Cadet at lower cost.
Just do not expect long life from a no name discounted price belt |
