IH 1450 Engine not turning over

Hello Forum,
Getting no reaction when turning ignition switch to start. This occurred a year ago & then again today. Battery is fully charged--lights turn on to full bright. When it happened last year I left it for a while then attempted a restart--cranked over & started right up. Earlier this year it was not charging, so I replaced regulator & checked all wiring which proved not the problem. Finally, replaced ignition switch (thanks to a tip on this forum) & that solved that issue.

Appreciate any input on this--unit is a 1974 model.

Thanks,
John

Check the solenoid to be sure it is being energized when turning the key to the start position.

Make sure you have power to the small terminal with the key in the start position. if you do, the issue is with the solenoid.
Try jumping across the 2 large posts.

It should crank.

Did you leave it out in the rain? Might be corrosion on the ignition switch terminals.

finsruskw thanks, I will give that a try tomorrow.

No, corrosion on ignition switch terms, thanks

The PTO switch must be off (electrically open), and the brake safety switch made (electrically closed) to complete the ignition circuit.

Is the spring metal flapper pushing down on the safety switch, when the brake pedal is latched down?

You need to check the PTO switch and safety switch with a VOM, to be sure. Sometimes they fail internally.
