Clutch Pressure plate issue
1 Attachment(s)
I was rebuilding a narrow frame clutch assembly. Something didn't look right when everything was apart. Needless to say the pressure plates are warp big time. The hubs from pressure plates are butted against each other. There is a .040 to .060 gap ( where my finger is pointing ) at the outer edge. The drive shaft coupler was loose. Not sure if the bolts holding the motor were tight.
Owner says tractor was working ok. Anyone have any thoughts on why the discs were like this? |
IMHO, looks like the Owner ran this tractor way too long, creating heat, with what "he" thought was normal??
:bigthink: |
Abuse and neglect come to mind here although the coupler slot portion of the rear plate looks good, much better than many I have seen.
That gap looks closer to .100 from here. Was the disc itself an OEM style w/the metal center plate? What's the ID of the hubs on the plates and the rear coupler? All wallowed out? What's the OD of the shaft in those areas of wear, front and rear? Groovy? Looks like it's time for some new parts! |
