PTO issue with 1772
Ok experts, I am totally stumped and need help. The PTO will engage but immediately quits. I’m not skilled with electrical issues. I’ve given the tractor to a CC expert and he couldn’t find it after 2 days. I’ve replaced the PTO switch, the voltage regulator, new PTO. Looked for shorts in all wires. Safety switches on seat and reverse are close looped. Any ideas? I’ll try anything at this point.

It's going to be one of these 3 things. (A) Seat Switch won't close. (B) The Reverse Switch is stuck open, or (C) The Reverse Relay is bad.

These tractors have a rear PTO option. There is a plug with a jumper plugged into it. This should be behind the battery. When I got my 1572 in 1998 I had the same thing happen you are describing. There was enough corrosion build up in the plug from the battery that it would drop voltage and then cause thr PTO to cut off. It took me several days of troubleshooting to find it. I bought my 1572 at my dealer and I suspect this was the biggest reason he traded it.
Do you have an electrical diagram? |

Here is a diagram with the jumper circled in red. I just wanted to make sure the 1772 was like the 1572 and it is.
If you need me to send you the drawing, send me a PM with your email address and I will send it to you. |
