Original tires?
Does anyone know what brand and type of tire that came on cubs from the factory? More specifically the generation of the 86/108/109/128/129 (and so on). My user tractor has newer Carlisle 4 ply’s on the front, but the rears are USA made Goodyear yard tires and I’m curious to see if they’re original. They’re pretty dry rotted but still holds air for months and I have definitely gotten my money’s worth out of them and one thing’s for sure, they don’t make tires like they used to!

My 125 came with 23x8.50-12 rear and 4.80x4.00-8 front tires from IH, but when I bought it, it had 23x10.50-12 rear farm service tires and 16x6.50-8 front. Someone had put golf cart tires on the front and I changed them to Vredestein V61. I’m willing to bet they changed the front wheel to accept the wider tires, but my rear wheel is the same as factory IH.

My 102 has some very, very old BF Goodrich Silvertowns on it. I don’t know if they’re original but I doubt they’re newer than the mid-80s. They still hold air but are pretty chalky and prone to doing inadvertent burnouts :biggrin2:

My 69 127 still has the original Goodyears on them. They are cracked but still hold air. You won't find a tire today that will last that long.

Darn right. One blew up on me not too long ago, mostly because of the dozen or more patch jobs on it. i had an identical tire off a parts tractor and it’s still getting the job done

2022 replacement tire brand/model?
Hello, which brand and model best resembles the OEM turf style? Specifically, the metal tower tractors such as 122. Carlisle Turf Saver vs Turf Master? Most likely looking for a 23x8.50x12 tire for a 12x7 wheel and don't want something that looks too different from the original look. Thanks!

Unfortunately they're so hard they don't have much traction. |
