I pulled the head off my 127 today. I think it is cracked.... is it???

How are we supposed to tell with a 3" wide picture? Clean it up and look at it closely.

Get a flat surface and some fine grit sandpaper and sand it till the metal shines....use a wire brush on a drill or some tool and clean the carbon off....the cleaner the better to see any flaws you have. Hope this helps.....if your camera has a macro function, make sure your camera is stable and will not move and take another pic so we can see better ...and close up |
there is a easier way to Clean the head. spray the head with easy off oven cleaner let sit for 10 min, wipe off and repeat. Use a brass wire brush for the harden areas. Then use sand paper. go over it inch by inch to check for cracks.

I myself have not seen "white" under a head like that. Like eveyone else is saying....clean it up as new and see if you can see a crack. What makes you think it is cracked anyway?

Time for oven cleaner :). I think it is cracked because I have never seen a shiney spot on a head before, and there looks like a crack in that spot. But I don't see anything wrong on the ouside of the head.

All cleaned up. It appears that the head was once cracked and has been repaired.
