2135 Mower Deck

My 2135 has a 38” deck but I’ve seen possibly later models with a 42”. Was that an option and if I found one, would it fit without modification?

Going to the Cub Cadet Parts Lookup Tab (at top of page), I see no evidence that a 42" mower deck was offered on the 2135.

Looking at the Cub parts site they only show 38" decks. Now could you put a 42 deck on a 2135, I guess so as long as it was for a 2000 series. I have a 2135 and I'm not sure they have enough power to deal with a bigger deck. Your results may vary. :beerchug:

Agree with Sam Mac
Having owned a 2155 (42" deck) I doubt the 2135 would have enough grunt to do more than light trimming of the grass with a 42" deck

Also looking at a new set of rear wheel/tire combo 20x10-8 AG’s and states it has. 4” bolt pattern and 3.5” backspace. Any idea what the offset/backspace is on the early 2000 series?

my 127 had a 48" deck, the 2135 is 13 hp. I have a 2146 and my 38" deck needs to be replaced eventually, got me thinking too about the bigger wheels. This was my dads cub cadet, he got it new in 2002. it gets stuck in the yard in the spring all too often and i have to pull it out with a narrow frame cub cadet.

I started a new topic just for this type of info on the 2000 series. Hoping one of the “wealth of knowledge” guys chimes in.

As stated, factory option was only the 38".

The engine will handle more than that, I have tried several different decks with the CH13 engine in the 2000 Series. It will turn the 42", 44", and 46" just fine.

I have a 54" on my 2166 (CH16) (the 44" and up will require a PTO pulley swap to 6" diameter to keep the deck speed the same). It runs it flawlessly and has for two years now. These little Commands are great engines.

All the decks will fit/mount. The front deck hanger will need adjusted depending on the deck. The larger decks (46",48",54") will require the additional lift assist springs to keep the weight of the decks off of the lift handle mechanism.

The 38” deck just started throwing the belt. Sometimes the tension spring come off but not always. If I reseat the belt, it mows fine with no issues. I park it and next time I fire it up, engage the PTO, the belt is off.
Where do I start? Does raising and lowering the deck affect belt tension or alignment? I lower it a couple notches to mow then all the way back up to store.

Is it an OEM PTO Belt, or aftermarket ??
