982 Lift Bar

Is the lift bar the same for a 982 as a 782?

I can't compare manual parts b/c CC only shows the 982 having a 3 point. I'd prefer to keep a flexible setup between the 782 and 982 (or even 1811, but it already has the 3 point plate in place).

Thanks

AFAIK, there never was a Sleeve Hitch setup for the SGT. If the option was sought, it was a Cat 0 hitch system only. I suppose, a custom sleeve hitch could be fabricated.

They usually sold the Brinly HH-1000 A frame to sleeve Hitch adapter, which Brinly stopped selling in 2005. So, you could use Sleeve Hitch Implements on Your 3 Point Hitches, which Xtreme and Ruegg both sell for the Cat 0 3points today.

I still use my HH-1000, or I use a the Heavy Hitch 2 inch Sleeve Hitch Insert, which I Helped develop with Heavy Hitch to be used on there Heavy Hitch or a A frame with a 2 inch receiver.

You're right -- I was wondering if anyone had tried a 782 lift bar on a 982. I think the mounting of the hitch won't be hard, but there might be some guess and check on the lift bar.

Xtreme specifically sells 4 bolt U hitches for the supers. :beerchug:

I would prefer to just directly put a sleeve hitch on. I have a IH 284 w/ 3 point for those implements. :beerchug:

Well why Not Invest In One of these Then https://johnnyproducts.com/J_Bucket_...eeve_Hitch.htm Here it is On a 3000 series. I use One On a Deere GX335 as all they Had was a OEM Manual lift sleeve hitch Originally

Why add the complexity? For that price I can use the already included hydraulic lift for either a sleeve hitch or 3 point setup :bigthink:

Pretty much the only benefit I could see to that is independent lift if you also have the deck on.

In my mind I would be able to swap between the 782 and 982 for the sleeve hitch. In practice I'd probably rarely or never use the 982 for that and just run the 782 (or my 1711, which also has one albeit with the tiller gearbox mount/hitch).

I just can't see using a sleeve Hitch On a 982 anyway if You have a 3 point Hitch already. I could see Upgrading the Cat 0 to a Cat 1 which I did to the 2182

Ariens(the Speery/New Holland actually came up with the design before Ariens Bought the Tractor Line that became the Ariens GT series) was One company that produced a sleeve hitch that utilized the 3point Hitch rocker shaft, so all you did was UN-pin the Lower arms and Middle link and Mount the sleeve Hitch. If You really want a sleeve Hitch on the 982 That would be a design I would Follow that Utilized the 3point rocker shaft to raise and lower sleeve Hitch

The (A) frame 3 point to sleeve adapters really give You a Lot more control than a standard sleeve Hitch. . Just UN-pin adapter and You Back to a 3point hitch

The IH design team knew when the 982 was signed off for Production that they Intended to only use a Cat 0 3 point on it to compete with the other Super sized GT's from Bolens and Deere at the time

You Can also utilize Front Blades Independently of the Rear Hitch With Johns Universal sleeve Hitch. That is One thing, I think the IH designers got wrong! They should have Made the 3 point Operated Independent of the front Blade. That's where Deere was Leaps and Bounds ahead of IH and it wasn't Until MTD Came out with the 3000 series to solve that Issue

I think the holes in the back of the frame for the Lift Lever (from a WF tractor), are there. If not, drill and add some bushings. One would have to make the Lift Bar, by determining the length and make it out of 3/8" x 1-1/2" Flat Stock, cut to length.

This is the way I would approach it.
