Dealer Can't Fix My XT1

I joined here in March 2020 because my XT1 wouldn't start. I was advised to let the dealer fix under warranty. (Good Advise)
It was a push button module and an ignition coil.

Then they fixed it again under warranty. Ignition coil.

Then I put two ignition coils on it myself. $109.00 ea.

Last Fall she lost ignition AGAIN!

I dropped it off to the only CC approved repair shop October 21st.

It is still not fixed and they've pretty much admitted they don't know what to do. They uploaded new software and changed a relay.
The tech said he could replace the whole computer but it is $300.00 and I'm on the hook for it wheather it works or not.

The aforementioned shop NEVER communicated with me and I've had to call every time.

I hate this thing and regret buying it.

Suggestions?

First off let me say how bad I feel for the mess you are in. The current business
model of the New USA is shot. It is an epidemic that I fear we will not recover
from.
I personally have no knowledge of the specific machine you are working on
but a little more info here might help the folks who are give some ideas.
Did it resolve the original problem every time you replaced the coil?
Why do they want to replace a computer? Is it burning out the coil?
Can you replace the computer? Sounds like you know as much about
this thing as the genius' working on it.
Anything else you can get on here for info will help.
Maybe we can get it running and you can sell it. Sorry for your mess.

Yes. It would arbitrarily lose ignition. I'm an electrician by trade so no problem to ohm a coil and determine bad. Twice a new coil fixed her right up.But this time it was not the coil.

You're right; customer service doesn't seem to exist anymore. I've always been polite and proffesional in spite of my frustration.

Surely there's a way to hack the ignition to magneto?

I'd bet that push button ignition switch is bad again. Is it fuel injected? If no EFI, it doesn't have a computer other than the push button module.
When I worked at my local MTD authorized store, I researched getting rid of the push button module because the same tractor was sold with a regular key ignition, different model# though. I thought it would be easy. Not so, completely different wiring harness, also a couple different switches.

Engine has a 3 year warranty. Get CC to fix it, either through that dealer or another one.

If someone is thinking about new Cub Cadets, this is a review
they need to read.

I was thinking the same thing, why is a computer and EFI on a tractor? Give me an old skool carburetor - the simpler something is, the easier it to repair and maintain.

This year's XT1 42" is back to the Kohler engine w/out the sophisticated nonsense. All the other XT1/STs, ZTRs that I've seen have a simple cable throttle to govn on engine. Maybe avoid the XT2/3 w/ push button start, but that's been fine for years with the Kawa/Kohlers.

Personally I'd avoid the China MTD engine for a few years w/ the "auto" throttle...made 2020 and 2021.
