2182 Cub Cadet.
Has anyone on this page, installed an Xtreme PTO clutch on a 2182, and have put 100 or more hours run time on it ?

I can say, of all the people that have purchased an Xtreme PTO clutch, has been more than satisfied, based on the reports seen here.

Good to hear. I am only interested in the experiences of those than have bought Xtreme PTO clutches for the 2182. The Xtreme looks to be the best made clutch on the market, at this time.

As the owner of 6 2182's presently (had 8 and sold 2 last summer) I will tell you my experience. To begin with 2182's are somewhat hard on clutches. The original design clutches held up fairly well although are no longer available. As far as the Xtreme clutch, they have not been available that long for a longevity answer. I have changed several 2182 clutches and in my opinion, hands down Warner are the best. They have usually been the supplier for Cub Cadet and seem to hold up the best, although very expensive. I have found that if you purchase the clutch from an authorized Warner dealer (check internet) they are not too much more than the Xtreme clutch is. As far as clutches available out there, China has flooded the market with clutches and many different vendors placing their name on them. They look good with their machined pulleys and replaceable bearings although my experience is the quality is not there. They claim different quality of bearings depending on seal colors although the issues I have experienced is with the clutch mechanism itself. The ones I have tried have all had to be re-shimmed to make the clutch/brake operate properly along with the clutch plate not being true to the pulley making them difficult to set the air gap. One more thing, no matter who's clutch you go with you will have to modify the coil support bracket with a flat piece of steel welded on it to line up properly so it does not raddle or damage the clutch. Again my opinion, spend just a little more and go with a Warner from and authorized Warned dealer for best results!

2182 pto clutch
ccpullin --- i did check prices and the warner was about double what i paid for an xtreme, had a hard time finding the correct pto clutch for a 2182 when buying sight unseen. kept my old warner to use to compare with what i bought. the xtreme group listed a pto clutch on ebay specifically for the 2182. took a chance and bought it. disassembled the new xtreme when i received it and checked the flat springs position to be correct -- springs in correct position. reassembled and set running clearance on the clutch. have put over 100 hours on it to date -- no issues to date. would be surprised if any mower pto clutches are made in the usa in 2022. best hope in getting a good quality clutch is from a reputable company like xtreme ot warner. i am sure other companies sell good quality pto clutches but i am not well informed on the pto clutch market, i did buy a chinese made pto clutch at first but could not get any information from them why their pto clutch is correct for a 2182. about the only thing good about ebay is their refund and return policy so i did not get completely stuck with this unknown quality clutch. the pictures i saw of the warner clutch for a 2182 look the same as the xtreme i bought. the original warner i was running is no longer available. the new pto clutches do not appear to a robust as the old design -- make them as simple as possible for the money. saw a note from on pto installed he placed a rubber piece of tubing over the anti-rotation device to reduce what is perceived as excess clearance on the new clutch. i did not do the rubber hose mod as i read another suggestion that there might be a danger of placing stress on the clutch and causing bearing problems.
