2072 w/Onan Engine

2 Attachment(s)
I'm trying to find out how many of these original units are left. I picked up #759486 back in April and currently have the engine out to be freshened up. What's interesting is the engine is dated 05/85 but the tractor was built 01/87. I was curious after seeing bolivier's post from 2018 about his Onan-powered 2072...I know of two other units that were parted out, but don't know how many surviving machines are still running around.

Look at the tag on this machine. Is this who you purchased it from?

Onan engines are awesome. I'll take a B48G over an M20 anyday.

Most 2072's are Kohler powered but there are a few Onan powered ones here.

There is a vid on Youtube with a Onan powered 2072 owner and he says that 80 something were built.....don't know if that's true or not.

That's the tractor! Pretty cool that the previous owner posted about it. Somehow in all my internet searching for Onan 2072 info, I never came across that thread.

The YouTube video you mention is mine. I had a discussion with a former CCC employee who worked at Brownsville when these tractors were built, and was told that they were built in a "crossover" period between the 17XX/19XX and the 18XX/20XX series, where a red wire could have been installed where a blue one was needed. So the Onan engine may not be the weirdest thing about this tractor...

I know of two other units that have been parted out. One was local, about 20 minutes from me in PA...the other one, which is nothing more than just a frame at this point, is in Ohio.

I knew I recognized the username.

I'm due for another update video here soon. Currently replacing the cam bearings, just waiting on a few last parts so I can put the engine back together.

Nice, got any pics of the repair? What happened to the cam bearings & where did you get your parts from?

When I rebuilt the Onan CCKA for my Case 646, I got all my parts from Robert Kummer, (boomers-influence@yahoo.com) 651-437-2826 including a rebuild kit for the Marvel Schebler carburetor.
