Deck spindle seals
On my 54 inch deck, I've discovered that the seals on the blade side, seem to have been installed upside down. This would have been done at the factory as Ive owned this machine. Has anyone else ran into this, is there a reason maybe??
Buy the way, the seals are all the same, same part number and all. |
They are installed that way so that when you pump grease into them they don't push out.

In the parts manual for my Cub deck spindles it shows the seals facing one another on the top and bottom
The seals cannot be pushed out on these spindles as there is a deck spacer top and bottom which acts as a retainer I stress this is for a Cub GT2550 Download a parts manual for your Cub Oz |

Wadder runs up hill, summer is winter and the steering wheeeel is on right. It's all so confusing as one never knows if they are winding their arse or scratching their watch. :biggrin2: |

If you put the seals in the wrong way they would not serve the porpoise they were designed for , so if you put them in the otter way do not whale when you have a problem

this may be hard to read but basically what it says is:
If your spindle has a lube fitting, install the top seal up, if no lube fitting, install it down. Interpret as you like. |
Are the spindles the same from 1987 till 2021 ?
