Headlight spade connectors

I believe I am having the typical headlight-shorting issue that causes the left side 25A fuse to blow. Haven't torn into the harness yet, but my intent is to chop off and rebuild the headlight section of the harness. It's just wire, some friction tape and some spades, I figure I might as well to eliminate future problems at least under my ownership.

Can anyone confirm that the female connectors on the harness to the headlights on a 2000 series (2166 more specifically) are or aren't just standard spade connectors?

EDIT: Apparently "spade" sometimes refers to the forked style connector, I'm referring to the single wide blade, fully insulated 0.250" disconnect.

.250" Spade Terminals are very common. They are typical used in Cub Cadet Tractors.

Electrical Tape or Heat Shrink is far better.

I just redid the headlights on my 2155 with the red and blue female spade connectors (not sure what size they are I just used the colors to identify which was ground and positive). They slide right onto the male spades on the bulb housings no problem. Be sure to zip tie the wires out of the way or else they can hit the exhaust pipe when the hood is closed.

RED = 18-20GA Wire
BLU = 14-16GA Wire
