Hello,
I'm new to the group.
I have a couple old Cubs sitting behind the garage.
One is a 123 Hydro and the other is a 127 I think. It has the wide frame for the engine.
Neither one is particularly complete. The 127 doesn't have an engine or deck. The 123 has an engine but very rusty deck.
What I'd like to do is make a 4wd center-hinged log-skidder-like contraption. I thought I'd put the hydro transmission in front that way I could have a lever to select if it drives or not.

The biggest change I'm going to make (if that weren't enough) is to convert it to 100% electric using a couple 24v Tesla battery modules in series and a 48v motor. Haven't settled on which motor yet but it'll either be an induction motor or brushed DC.

What do you think?
Has anyone done a skidder-like build?
Has anyone converted their Cub to electric?

123 and 127 are both narrow frames. Maybe a 129 if it’s a hydro.

There was a guy on here, that converted a Toro Lawn Tractor to electric, about a year ago. There was an extensive write up about in the General Section. I have no knowledge that a 4WD version was ever attempted.

Sorry for the confusing wording.
The 123 is the Hydro. Yes, it has a narrow frame.
The other one has a wide frame...could be a 129.

I searched the forum and found a link to the Toro guy.

I converted my Murray riding mower to electric several years ago. It has worked really well but it's not very robust and I'm afraid the motor is going to destroy the transaxle.

Heck, I'll put up a picture. I'm sure you'll recognize the pull-behind mower deck. It's the 48" deck that came off of the wide frame Cub.
