Wayne Kenney needs parts for a side by side 4X4

Hi guys, today is my first day on this site. I found it by accident. I have a hobby farm in WV, sheep and goats. My Cub Cadet side by side with the pickup like trunk and the winch on the front is an essential tool with so many uses i couldn't name them all. But here are a few; taking fencing and polls up the mountain to my property line then stretching the fence and holding with the winch while I secure it on the T-poles. I dig a lot of ditches put the dirt and stone in the trunk and move it to pot wholes in the drive way that is 300 yards long, my Cubby has a hitch on the back that I hook up to a log puller then I cut down trees on my 80 acres trim the branches lift up one end on the log puller and drag the other end to the saw mill. Point is, it's a work horse for me and I cant afford to by a new one. It has a Kohler engine and badly needs new rings and pistons. My friend Butch is shade tree mechanic and will rebuild it if I can find the parts. Here is the information needed if anyone wants to help me. KOHLER Model # CH26S SPEC # 64751 Part # for rings 24-10822-S and for pistons 24-87446-S. I found a compleate set of gaskets for $115. but I didn't order them since the other parts are elusive. If you can help feel free to call me at 331-234-4299. MY Cub Cadet Model # 37AC 467D 710 Serial # 1J126G40 024. Thanks for your help Wayne Kenney
Kohler no longer makes parts for this 4x4 and Cub Cadet no longer can get them.

Welcome to OCC.
Several things need be considered when rebuilding an engine:
Are you going to have to rebore it oversize? that can only be determined AFTER tear down and precision measurement and inspection of the bore for scoring, egg shaping and taper.
Then on to the crankshaft as to the condition of it as to the journals and connecting rods.
As well as other things like valves/seats, camshaft condition, governor etc. Etc.

Your friend "Butch" prolly knows that if he is an experienced mechanic/rebuilder.
But if he isn't, you might wind up with worse that you have now.

A quick search of your part numbers for the standard rings, produced many hits.
One on ebay, listing number # 174897833124

Also Hastings piston rings makes just about every ring known to man if you want to personally contact them or search their site.
They do not sell direct to the customer, but armed the correct part number recommended by them, your local auto parts can order them for you. BTDT.

I didn't go any farther, as if I can do it, so can you.

And it is a moot point, as I stated previously, you do not know the actual size you will really need till you access the condition of the engine cylinders.
One does not go to a drug store and start purchasing pills till you know what your problems are.
All that said it appears your model engine was made for a number of manufacture's of equipment, just not cub cadet specific.
Remember, today we have google and other internet resources that I didn't have back in the 1960's and succeeding years.
Good luck!:beerchug:
