126 Clutch Replacement Question
 

Okay, so Im NEW at this....
I had a clutch issue on a 126 where sometimes the clutch would disengage and sometimes it wouldn't. Starting off, I am so new I didnt really know how to GET to the clutch (LOL). After taking the deck off and pulling off the bottom plate I can at least to begin to understand it's operation. After playing with it, I found that there's something called a "teaser spring" which is broken. Sometimes it "binds" the clutch disc so it doesn't release...and sometimes not. The solution, obviously, is to replace the teaser spring. I decided to order a complete new assembly. Heres my two questions:

-1) I notice the front of the clutch shaft wobbles a little where it mates with the engine. Is there the equivalent of an "input shaft bushing" (that's what its called on a car) that can be changed? If so, what's the best way to remove the old bushing?

-2) Is there a way to change the clutch without removing the engine (if Im not changing that bushing? Can I just slide it back a little? Can I get the engine out without removing front grille frame?

Just trying to do it the right way instead of the hard way. Being new, I realize this comes apart differently than a car or pickup truck. Thanks

Removing the grill will make everything much easier
Remove the engine to do it right.
You will then be able to clean everything up and begin your repair properly.
It will not slide forward because of the deep sump oil pan will no allow that with out at least picking it up.

Inspect the drive line closely to determine just what is needed before ordering parts.
Replace the teaser spring (a 5$ item) no need to replace everything else unless there are issues with the rest of the drivetrain such as clutch disc, driveshaft itself, throw out bearing, main spring, one or all 5 of the spirol pins and the rear coupler.

And yes there is a bushing inside the 3 pin driver, also an easy find at your local auto parts store.
