123 air deflector

I'm rebuilding a 123. The Service Manual shows and air deflector that bolts on at the rear of the hydro assembly under the seat. My 123 (1967) didn't have one. Does anyone know if that part was included on all 123's? Trying to put this thing back together but I'm stymied. Thanks for any help.

Service Manual page number

FYI, the air deflector is shown on page 2-20 (56) in the Service Manual.

You have a puzzling inquiry here.:bigthink:

I don't have a 123 but I would suspect, that the Air Deflector was designed for air to be diverted down and across the Hydro Unit.

On a personal note, being a HVAC/R Tech, I don't see any difference between the air going straight back vs going down. The objective is to have air to cool the Hydro Unit.

I looked at the Online Parts Lookup as well as the old paper Parts Manual and I could not find that deflector.

That's interesting! Of the 123s and 125s here, I've not seen anything like that deflector. Maybe it was an idea that didn't happen and they used the block-off plate (#12 in parts lookup) instead? :bigthink:

That's one of those things that appears in the manuals but doesn't actually exist. This was discussed on another forum recently.

Mystery solved.

Thanks gents. What a great resource this site is, I appreciate the info.

PS: I recently received a 109 and a 149, both sitting in my garage. They spent a number of years out in the weather, so pretty rusty. I'll get some pix together. Some parts missing on the 109. I'm still re-bulding the 123 so they'll need to wait a bit. I went from 1 cub to 3 almost overnight. Seems Cubs may have something in common with rabbits!

I have a 123 and a 125. Either machine have that piece on them. Seems like with that installed it would act as a debris catcher around the hydro unit.:bigthink:

1cub2cadet3,

That's called "Yellow Fever", and it sounds like you've got it. Luckily, you are in good company here!! Can't wait to see your pics.:Welcome2:
