Over haul of a K-301

I have a 125 with a K-301. Appearance and mechanicals are excellent. It has started to use some oil and fouling the plug. I don't use it in the winter. I'm planning on an overhaul this winter. It has 0.20 on the piston. I want the balance gears out and David Kirk modification done. My question for all the experienced guys on this forum, is sleeve it, or bore to 0.30? All answers will be appreciated!

Thanks guys.

I would rather bore to 0.030 than sleeve it if I had the option. If you wear it out at 0.030 you can always sleeve it after that, but you might not ever get to that point.

Go .030 over, but have it measured carefully as it could be scored or will not clean up @ .030 as that is only .005 from where you are at now on each side. .005 is not much.

Have you any experience with Kirk's crankshaft balance kit? I'm having one done just now. Just curious...:bigthink:
