Axle brace fix for broken aluminum housing?
My new 1512 has a broken aluminum case (pump adapter housing?) on one side where the front frame bracket attaches. Will installing axle braces from Xtrememotorworks completely fix the issue? How about also installing a rear hitch plate from a Cyclops (if the diesel fuel tank allows it to fit)? I want to tow and that would take the load off the transmission housing in addition to help stiffen the frame.
thanks! PS - I tried posting this earlier but its not showing up, so if it ends up a double post I apologize. |
Put a GT brace on it and the hitch plate and you are good to go.

Any problem if I can't get a hitch plate to fit? The diesel fuel tank sticks out back 1" past the top part of frame. Unless the hitch plate stands off the back of the frame by 1", I'll need to cut off the top of it to clear the tank. Guess I need to get a plate in hand and give it a look. I could always install a frame mounted receiver hitch to keep towing loads off the aluminum case.
That fuel tank is also keeping me from installing a 3 pt (sleeve type) cast lift lever. I wish there were a smaller tank available that didn't extend so far to the rear. I don't need a long run time so reduced volume wouldn't be an issue. |
I put a hitch plate on a 1572 with no problem.

I have a plate on a 1572 and have no clearance issues.

I put a hitch plate on a 782D with no issues.
