1996 1430 Hydro Question
 

I was told that the 1996 model 1430 Cub had a oone year only Eaton trans that is not replaceable with any other unit . Has anyone , does anyone know if any other year / model can be substituted for it ? Reason asking also is this hydro is shot . Thanks

Older simplicity 4000, 5000 series used an Eaton trans, but good luck finding one as a direct fit, you may be able to use the pump internals though...

Thanks for the reply. Since doing the original post, I found out that the 1430 I was asking about, has a Hydo-Gear / #618-3076 model hydro in it , not a Eaton like a friend told me it has. So now I am looking around for one of those. I know the 1430 are one of the throw-a-way models, but the Cub is in nice shape and a good price if I can find another hydro at a good price.

BTW: the 618-3076 is NOT a good part number.

Another update to original post . I decided to get this Cub , because of the price , and overall condition , and the chance I could find another hydro / or repair it . It's main problem was moving very slow , and a slower reverse . After getting it home and checking it out , I found that the spring for keeping tension on the drive belt idler was missing , and the idler wasent doing anything . After replacing the spring and checking the forward and reverse speeds , with my GPS , [ info from Tractor Data .com ] , it runs the required speeds .

Sounds like a wise purchase, might buy yerself a lottery ticket!:beerchug:
