122 engine swap
 

I am having all kinds of problems with my 12 horse k-301 in my 122 so I figure it would be cool to put a engin from a Ql in. Would it fit in a narrow frame would it mount solid or would I halve to make some sort of cradel ?

The motor K-301AQS has a deep sump oil pan and will NOT mount into NF Cub as a drop in replacement

IF you made motor mounts to accommodate the oil pan, then the geometry of the drive line will be off.

Not to say it couldn't be done, just a lot of modification involved.

This doesn't take into consideration for the electricals. Modifying the wiring would need to be done also.

could you swap the oil pans ?

A QL deep sump pan is dimensionally the same as a 122's K301.

Are all Ql oil pans the same?

I think the engin will bolt right in, here are some pics of a 122 puller with a k-341AQS the frame was cut for the bigger flywheel but the starter clears.

To the hard part the wiering, could I just use a harness from a Ql and wire it as if it where a Ql ?

Does the k-301AQS have the same flywheel and blowwer howsing as a k301 ?

A QL harness will not fit easily. The battery is under the seat on a QL and under the hood on a NF.

I made a diagram to use a Ql harness but I will proably try to use a n/f harness it wont have a electric pto clutch or a neutral safty switch.

A NF harness is not going to work because the charging system on a QL is completely different.
