Cub cadet XT1 dead as a door knob
Hello,
Drove my cadet in the shed in the fall. Tried to start it And it is dead. No clicking no nothing. Changed batteries and still nothing and no the pto is not engaged. What am I missing? . Suggestions please. Tony |
First, welcome to OCC....... :Welcome2:
Three things to check. (A) Is your tractor in Neutral, (B) Are you sitting in the Seat, and (C) is your Foot Pedal depressed. Each of those, have safety switches that need to be satisfied, in order for the engine to roll over. |
Since you say it was parked in a shed since fall, it is highly possible that a little critter decided to build a nest under the cooling shroud of the engine. Possibly could have chewed through a couple of wires too.
I would pull the cooling shrouds off the engine and make sure it's clean under there. Even if there's no wires chewed through, you certainly don't want your engine to overheat because of a mouse nest! |
Is the battery holding the charge ? Battery posts clean ?

Current State after charging new battery overnight
Hello to those that responded. I left my new battery on charge overnight. I went out there this morning and turned the key, I had lights. While sitting on the seat, moving the throttle up and depressing the left pedal I turned the key. It made slight attempts (sounded like the engine moved a tiny bit) at turning the engine over for maybe 4 times each time I repeated the process and then only a clicking noise.

Try cleaning "each" battery cable on "both" ends to make sure they are clean, tight, and bright.

Finally Started !
I put the battery charger back on for a couple hours. I went out and at the advice of the admin, I made sure my battery connections were clean and tight. Low and behold she started right up. I love it when a plan comes together :). Thank you everyone for your input !
