682 still pto problem
Ok so i adjusted the pto on my 682 like i was told. I adjusted it to .010. Put a new belt on and started mow and mowed ran great for about 15 minutes. Mower started to run rough. If i flipped to pto off runs good. So i decided to put back in the garage and park. When i turned tractor off engine was smoking, like it was running really really hot. Any insight would be appreciated. I am defeated with this.

Have you checked the deck for a bad bearing or something causing binding in the mule drive or deck?
Where was the smoke coming from? We need more to work with...
Smoke was coming from the engine block. So i just figured it was running hot. Motor was starting to bogg down on my.
Smoke from where on the engine?
It looked to me like it was coming on the right side below the air filter.
Carb issue maybe blocked cooling fins is the engine filthy, does it leak oil.
There is a very slight oil leak up by the pto. But it runs great if i am just using to plow. Doesn't run hot. Just when the pto is on.

Your air gap is too tight...should be 0.016-0.019" I think.
Matt is correct your air gap is to tight and should be larger, however I would not see this as an issue that would cause the engine to run hot enough to smoke.
If your mule drive and deck are not binding I would expect that the carb is running lean or you have an air leak between the carb and engine. |
