Replacement Harness for 2006 LT1050 Does Not Work
Anyone know why the recommended replacement wiring harness for a 2006 LT1050 does not work? I've had the mower in the shop of an authorized service station for 6 weeks and they are at a loss as to why this harness isn't working or why it was even the one recommended for purchase. It's been a good mower and I've replaced many parts on it the last 2 years.
Thanks for your responses. |
Who/Where did this replacement harness come from and who installed it? Why was the wiring harness replaced? And what does not work with the new harness? Does the tractor turn over when trying to start? Do the lights work? etc... etc..
You need to get a wiring diagram for your model tractor and make sure this replacement harness matches up to all the correct connect locations. You also need to make sure you don't bypass the safety switches and that they all work as they should. You also need to make sure you have good grounding throughout. All the connections must be nice, clean and tight. The battery also needs to be good! Do not overlook the fuses. The tractor is small and simple that any competent Cub Cadet service dealer oughta figure out what is wrong...... before the sun goes down at the end of day. |

This is at a Cub authorized shop?? If the harness was in fact the wrong one, they should have been able to see it was different before trying to install it. I always try to match up harnesses like that before even attempting to install it. Saves time... If its the wrong harness, I am guessing that the ignition switch is wired incorrectly now. she wont start like that. |
Replacement Harness for 2006 LT1050 Does Not Work
More about the purchase. I purchased the harness from a cub cadet parts company and the harness assembly was listed as a the replacement for a discontinued harness assembly, which is baffling. There is no direct connection from the battery to the solenoid switch or from the solenoid switch to the starter. It seems the new harness assembly has a different wiring for these connections, possibly. I am not an expert on Cub Cadet LTs. I've replaced many items on this mower but this one is baffling.
I agree the wiring diagram would be useful; I wonder if the repair shop is using the diagram. I was asked about the old harness, which I've already discarded. Big mistake....lesson learned. There was a short in the old harness assembly that resulted in the PTO not working, hence the replacement was needed. What it appears to come down to is the different wiring from the old harness (discontinued) to the new harness. The question is what needs to be done to the new harness to make it work so that I can get it back? I hoped this repair shop was able to figure it out, but now 7 weeks have passed and nothing. Frustrating. It was a good mower. It h as about $600 in new parts since 2019. |
May I suggest sellers on Ebay, also those that have bone yards for lawnmowers. :bigthink:
