Picked up a 128 for its 44A deck for my 122

This one popped up, a little further away than I would have liked but I had been keeping an eye out for a 44A deck to run on my 122, and this turned up with a deck. It had a blown seal so it was sold as "needs work". I got it home and all the work was pretty much done. They clutch was off (the button and retainers are ruined) and the clamshell pulley was already loose. All I had to do was slide it off, and pull out the seal which had come loose and fell inside, and install a new one which I had on hand already. I put some gas in it, and it ran started seeping out through the fuel line, so I replaced that. Turned it over, and it fired right up and it runs. Not great, but it runs. I'm sure there's probably some junk in the carburetor that needs cleaned out from sitting, but the engine sounds good, and didn't smoke. :biggrin2:

The deck is in really good shape, it is missing the left front skid though.

Keep us posted on this match up.

Is that an unpossible matchup? I know the 122 didn't come with those decks but it looks like it'll fit.

NO, not saying that it can't be done. The 1x2/3 Series was paired up with the 38, 42, or 48 inch decks. Haven't seen the newer 44/50 series decks on the older tractors. That's why I said, keep us posted on the possibilities and progress.

I did exactly this recently on a 104 with a buddy. You have to mix the front of a narrow frame mule drive with the rear section of a WF mule drive. The reason is so that the drive will clear the offset pulley on the deck. Worked out great for us, and cuts much better than the smoked 42" NF deck we removed.

I'm currently rebuilding a 50" deck for my 126 and will post pics if I ever finish it. Haha

Thats cool, thanks MattC. I have all those parts here so swapping stuff out won't be a big deal. I have a 48" deck on it now, but I don't really like it. I love my 50C and 44C, so I was hoping the 44A would cut the same and work on my 122. I just took the 128 for its first spin, and the clutch is VERY noisy when driving it, I'm thinking the bearing is toast. I was figuring on parting this one out and keeping the deck anyway. The engine purrs now, and runs strong with no smoke at all.

sorner - please forgive me if this crosses a line, but I could not resist!

I came across this image while surfing the internet and could not help but notice a possible family resemblance. Could this be a long lost relative?

Oh, and good luck with the 122, one of my favorites!

Nice find on the 128, wheel weights are a bonus!

Congrats on the 128!
