1872 super cub
5 Attachment(s)
Thinking about buying a super 1872. Has the kohler mag 18 series II. Seller says it runs good and cuts grass good. No cat"0" hitch or any other accessories. Has damage on grill holder and one front tire is damaged. All tires hold air. He is supposed to get back to me on hour meter reading. Would a series I engine have an oil filter? It has a 60" deck looks like a Haban. Pictures attached. Have a great day.

The Kohler KT Series Engines had a Series I & II. Never heard of the Magnum series engines being designated the same. IIRC, all the Magnums had oil filters.

Sorry for my confusion. Tractor has the mag 18 engine. Also no damage to the grill holder, just black paint. Tractor has almost 800 hours. What would be a fair buying price? Thanks for your help. Have a great day.

How bad ewe want it?
A fair price is what a buyer and seller agree upon, no more no less. I will say the kohler magnum was the last and best of the opposed twins, smooth and torquey unlike the V twins that followed. But it is a little thirstier when it runs full song. |
It also has the highly coveted auxiliary front hydraulics. that raises the value to some (not me). In Ohio I have seen similar units with asking prices of $2-3K on CL and equipment trader. Who knows what the transaction price is. As stated earlier, what makes you happy and the seller happy.

Check the 4 bolts that holds the rear to the frame. Make sure they are tight and not stripped out. What happens is they get loose and then wallow out the threaded holes. It looks pretty decent so I would say $500-1000 and like others have said it depends how much you want it.
