IH Busted pulley, spindle or both?
 

This is from a 48" mowing deck (U1111). Its that notched piece on the pulley that is deformed.

Do I have a busted pulley, busted spindle or both?

Also if you see below, this was the hardware that the securing the pulley with the zirk bolt. Is that how its supposed to be or is that a hack?

The hardware is correct. looks like a new pulley and spindle is in order.
Maybe PBJ may be able to help.

Thanks... i wished i could find a parts diagram for it... i think its 483u1111 it came off a 149.

I cant even find a photo to confirm but im thinking the notch is on the spindle and the pulley has like a tooth/key that slides into the notch. Its that piece on the pulley that broke.The spondle spins nicely without the pulley installed.

Deck is in good condition too, i hope i can find a replacement pulley and get to use it but that doesnt look promising.

here is a pic I found in my files ! and yes there is a keyway in the spindle and the pulley, your keyway looks pretty hammered !Like Lew said looks like a replacement is needed !:beerchug:

So keyway meaning there is a notch in both pulley and spindle and then a key to slide into them? Or is the notch you see in the pulley the broken key piece?

Now for the hard part, finding parts i need! (without draining my wallet would be nice too i bet thoses parts will be more than the deck is worth!

new stuff is $$$$ try to find a good used assembly ,perhaps a member here can help you out !! each piece is "notched" the pulley slides down over the spindle shaft, the key slides in ( I think key is 1/4 x 1/4 about the length of the pulley thickness ) the washers and grease fitting hold it together !

Does anyone out there know where i can find the parts diagram for 483u1111? Or maybe the part number for a center pulley?

The center main drive piece or one of the 2 on the outer ends?

I was able to find deck number 483 u111. Which means 48 deck 3 blades.
